Photographer, Nicole Heitzman, has always had a love for pheasant hunting! Opening Day of hunting season is like a holiday in South Dakota. Photography is much like hunting. It offers a similar rush of adrenaline. It's tough to get close to these wild birds, but every once-in-awhile it all comes together to capture a shot of these beautiful Ringneck.
This image is captured in Southeastern South Dakota. The sun was hitting the feathers just right to show the the beautiful colors of the rooster.
