Each authentic buffalo skull is a hand-painted original piece by South Dakota Artist, Nicole Heitzman. The medium used is Acrylic & is sealed with a protective finish.
The pictured buffalo skull has unique characteristics. The size of the buffalo skull at the widest part of the horns is 23 1/2”. From tip to tip of the horns is 22” wide. From the top of the skull to the chin area is 20” tall. The overall height of the skull is 26”.

HISTORY:
Bison have roamed the plains of South Dakota for many years & have been considered to be a staple of life. Among Native American tribes, especially the Plains Indians, the bison is considered a sacred animal and religious symbol. According to University of Montana anthropology and Native American studies professor S. Neyooxet Greymorning, "The creation stories of where buffalo came from put them in a very spiritual place among many tribes. The buffalo crossed many different areas and functions, and it was utilized in many ways. It was used in ceremonies, as well as to make tipi covers that provided homes for people, utensils, shields, weapons and parts were used for sewing with the sinew." Due to the nature that many items are custom order there will be no refunds on those purchases. It is not possible to resell most custom items. Refunds are only made if the artist deems it necessary.
